Intellectual Property Litigation Partners Quoted in Managing Intellectual Property on PTAB Strategy Panel Remarks at International Women’s Leadership Forum
Intellectual property litigation partners Gaby Higgins and Leslie Spencer (both of Silicon Valley) were quoted in a Nov. 29 Managing Intellectual Property article on the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) strategy panel remarks they gave at the 2016 International Women’s Leadership Forum in Palo Alto. The forum panelists discussed issues including software patents, emerging technologies, the European Unified Patent Court, licensing and leadership development.
On the PTAB panel U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Judge Tina Hulse discussed how PTAB cases proceed and offered tips for legal practitioners. Ms. Higgins explained that the PTAB is not a jury trial, and attorneys need to know all the strengths and weaknesses of their case. Ms. Spencer provided PTAB statistics and addressed issues such as forum shopping and the need for a consistent approach in parallel proceedings such as patent claim construction.
