Law360 has honored Ropes & Gray with a “Privacy Group of the Year” (subscription required) award for the fourth time in five years, acknowledging the firm’s work handling major breach and compliance matters, and litigating issues of first impression.

Among the firm’s accomplishments, Ropes & Gray’s privacy practice has recently reached successful settlements for a major American retailer, and a leading global hotel chain stemming from intrusions into their networks. In 2016, the firm was also retained by LabMD in its appeal of a finding by an FTC Administrative Law Judge that the company’s data security practices constitute a violation of Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act.

In 2016, The National Law Journal noted the accomplishments of Ropes & Gray’s privacy attorneys in its annual Appellate Hot List, ranking Ropes & Gray’s appellate & Supreme Court practice among the top groups in the nation, a group whose focus encompasses appellate privacy matters. Ropes & Gray’s privacy practice has also long been ranked as a leading practice by Chambers USA, Chambers Global, and Legal 500.

Ropes & Gray’s privacy & data security practice helps clients manage the full array of issues and matters involving privacy and data security law. Our multidisciplinary privacy and data security team consists of litigators, and transactional, health care and intellectual property attorneys who work together to counsel clients across a broad range of industries on compliance with, and defending against alleged violations of privacy and data security laws, as well as responses to incidents.
