Leveraged Finance Partner Malcolm Hitching Joins Ropes & Gray
Leading finance lawyer Malcolm Hitching has today joined Ropes & Gray as a partner in its London office, bringing additional capability to the firm’s European finance and private equity practices.
Hitching was previously a partner at Herbert Smith Freehills and former UK and EMEA Head of Finance, in London, where he specialised in corporate financings, restructurings and acquisition and event-driven finance, with a particular focus on the European leveraged finance and private equity finance markets, acting for both sponsors and financial institutions.
Hitching’s practice also includes acting for lenders, borrowers and financial advisers in relation to leveraged buy-outs, public-to-private takeovers, corporate financings, fund financing, investment grade and crossover lending and restructurings.
Jane Rogers, co-head of the global finance practice at Ropes & Gray, said:
“We are extremely pleased that Malcolm has joined us. His breadth of experience will enhance our global finance offering, and we expect that he will play a key role as we continue to expand our acquisition and leveraged finance practice. His appointment is a further step in building an integrated finance practice in London that allows us to offer cross-border expertise across financing products.”
Mike Goetz, London managing partner of Ropes & Gray, said:
“Malcolm is a great addition to the team. His broad base of experience make him an excellent fit for our European practice, providing support for our growing finance and private equity teams and enabling us to meet the increasing demand for our services from key financial sponsor clients.”
The appointment follows that of Helen Croke, previously a private equity and M&A partner at Travers Smith, who was appointed earlier this year and joins the London office of Ropes & Gray on 21 October 2016. Croke is a leading private equity lawyer in the London market and specialises in UK and international private equity and M&A, including acting for institutional investors, corporates and founders.
