Ropes & Gray has advised Bain Capital Private Equity on its purchase of a controlling stake – from 3i and LDC - in MKM, the UK’s largest independent builders’ merchant. The management team will retain a significant shareholding in the business.
MKM was established in Hull in 1995 and has grown rapidly to become a national company, with 47 branches across England and Scotland.
The deal, which was announced March 3, is subject to regulatory approvals. If these approvals are granted, the deal is expected to complete in May 2017.
The London-based Ropes & Gray team includes tax partner Brenda Coleman, antitrust partner Ruchit Patel, finance counsel Alexander Robb, private equity associates Victoria McGrath and Shona Ha, and tax associate Christopher Agnoli.
