Health care practice co-chairs Deborah Gersh (Chicago) and Tim McCrystal (Boston) were quoted in an April 19 article in Health IT Security on data aggregation security as heath care payers and providers shift from fee-for-service models to value-based health care.

Ms. Gersh and Mr. McCrystal explain that as entities gather, store and transfer more sensitive information, health care data security must remain a top priority. Value-based health care provides an opportunity to analyze data to determine the cost of similar health care procedures, treatments and courses of treatment to reduce cost and improve quality. However, health care providers and payers must stay mindful of HIPAA regulations and data security concerns.
