IP Litigators Co-Author Intellectual Property Magazine Article Analyzing NPE Activity Across IP Sectors

Practices: Intellectual Property Litigation

IP litigation counsel Matthew Rizzolo (Washington, D.C.) and IP litigation associate Keyna Chow (Silicon Valley) co-authored an Intellectual Property Magazine article on May 5 analyzing why and how the activities and perceptions of non-practicing entities (NPEs) vary widely across different IP sectors.

The co-authors examine patent, copyright and trademark/trade secret NPEs, and explain that their business models vary widely. Some NPEs purchase IP, other NPEs invent IP, and some NPEs do both. These business model differences, along with varying enforcement behavior and strategies, result in a wide range of perceptions of NPEs across technology and IP sectors.
