On Aug. 10, Bloomberg BNA’s Health Law Reporter published the sixth article in a series in which health care partner Tom Bulleit (Washington, D.C.) examines efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA or Obamacare).

Titled “Revisiting the Road Not Taken: Five Alternative Pathways to Regulatory Reform of Obamacare,” the article discusses how the Trump administration could change Obamacare through regulatory efforts since the U.S. Senate failed to pass legislation that would have repealed and replaced parts of Obamacare.

Mr. Bulleit outlines several ways the Trump administration could change or weaken parts of the ACA, including defunding federal subsidies to health insurance companies that assist lower-income persons in state insurance exchanges, narrowing the definition of essential health benefits and broadening hardship exemptions from the individual mandate to purchase health insurance.
