Practices: Private Equity Tags: Pro Bono

Ropes & Gray served as presenting sponsor of the SMART program’s annual fundraising dinner “SMART Goes to College,” held on May 17 in San Francisco, Calif., that champions diversity, equity, and inclusion in education. Proceeds from the event support SMART’s comprehensive 8-year program that provides low-income students in San Francisco access to an exceptional education and the skills needed to thrive in college and in life.

This year’s celebration also marked a significant milestone – the SMART program’s 20th anniversary. The event drew 400 guests including corporate supporters, dedicated philanthropists, school partners, and community advocates.

Ropes & Gray is a proud supporter of the organization and many of the firm’s lawyers, paralegals and support team members volunteer as tutors and mentors for the program, as well as contribute charitable donations. Previously, San Francisco-based private equity transactions partner Todd Boes, who leads the firm’s partnership with SMART, conveyed his hope that one day a SMART graduate will come to work at Ropes & Gray, drawn to the firm in part by its commitment to community service.

Ropes & Gray’s public service commitment is a hallmark of the firm – in 2017, our attorneys, paralegals, summer associates and other professionals worldwide donated more than 160,000 hours of legal services. Learn more about our pro bono efforts here.
