Life sciences intellectual property litigation partner Filko Prugo (New York) was quoted in a June 5 Managing Intellectual Property article addressing how artificial intelligence advancements can be patented and how the technology can be applied to eliminate patent inefficiencies.

Mr. Prugo explains that if AI creations are found to be patentable, it could motivate biopharmaceutical companies to invest in the technology for their drug development and clinical trial analyses. He notes that privacy is among the most important legal issues to consider as AI evolves, and that there is uncertainty about the right of trial subjects to an AI product that is derived from their data.
