He provides underwriter representation in transactions for asset managers and financial services companies, and also represents independent boards of directors and financial advisors in mergers & acquisitions.

“Paul’s guidance is sought-after and highly regarded on complex capital markets transactions by the world’s leading financial institutions,” said Patrick O'Brien, co-head of the firm’s securities & public companies practice. “The breadth of his experience makes him a strong addition to our already robust capital markets practice.”
“Paul’s corporate experience and strong client relationships will continue to strengthen our expanding presence in New York and reinforce our constant commitment to our clients,” said Eva Carman, managing partner of the New York office. “Marquee-name companies depend on his expertise, a testament to his success growing a strong capital markets practice globally.”

He is praised by clients for “around-the-clock availability, attention to detail, commercial sense and pragmatism,” and is “extremely thoughtful and logical,” writes Chambers. Mr. Tropp joins Ropes & Gray from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, where he served as head of the New York capital markets group.
Mr. Tropp holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law, and a B.A., cum laude, from Harvard College. He serves on the Securities Regulation Committee for the New York City Bar Association.
