Ropes & Gray provided health care regulatory counsel to private equity firm Warburg Pincus and urgent care provider, CityMD, in CityMD’s anticipated merger with Summit Medical Group. The transaction combines the New York metropolitan area’s dominant urgent care chain CityMD with one of the nation’s largest independent multi-specialty health care groups. The definitive merger agreement was announced on June 20.
The combined organization will offer patients a full spectrum of primary, specialty and urgent care. Summit Medical Group has more than 900 physicians that offer health care across 80 specialties in more than 80 New Jersey locations including comprehensive ambulatory care campuses and a cancer center. CityMD has grown rapidly to more than 120 locations across New York, New Jersey and Washington state, and has treated more than 3 million patients.
The Ropes & Gray team was led by health care partner Debbie Gersh (Chicago) and included health care associates Jennifer Romig, John Saran and Jamie Darch (all of Chicago).
