In an article published by Bloomberg Law on Dec. 3, IP litigation partner Peter Brody (Washington, D.C.) discussed a draft bill aiming to curb fraudulent trademark registrations.
The bill would help the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office more efficiently block fraudulent trademarks and create a fast track for canceling them. It also would make it easier to get a preliminary injunction during trademark litigation.
Peter explains that there is frustration with these phony trademarks because it interferes with the process of clearing and obtaining new marks.
