Life sciences transactions partner Marc Rubenstein and associate Joshua Jackson (both of Boston) authored a 2021 Chambers Global Practice Guide chapter on “Life Sciences U.S. Trends and Developments.”

The authors note that pre-pandemic healthcare paradigms and business models are continuing to change to reflect new and evolving expectations regarding patient care and employee and patient safety. Companies are contemplating shifting towards supplier diversification and domestic manufacturing, due to the supply and importation issues that many experienced during the pandemic. Companies conducting clinical trials have, as a result of both the regulatory easing that has occurred during the crisis and the needs that prompted it, adopted remote monitoring modalities and decentralized clinical trial designs.

In the chapter, they explore these and other emerging trends and developments resulting from the continued response to the pandemic in the biotechnology, medical device, pharmaceutical and health information technology sectors.
