Ropes & Gray advised Renown Health in a clinical affiliation with the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine.

The 50-year agreement will combine the clinical practice, teaching and research programs of Renown’s not-for-profit health system and UNR Med. It will add new services, create clinical training programs, boost access to clinical trials and increase UNR Med’s class sizes. More health systems are partnering with medical schools to better coordinate training programs, retain more graduates and expand service lines.

Renown and UNR Med announced a letter of intent to affiliate in August 2020. Renown’s board unanimously approved the agreement and Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak signed a Senate bill to facilitate the affiliation. The agreement was approved by the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents and finalized on June 11, 2021.

The Ropes & Gray team was led by health care partner Torrey McClary and counsel Ranee Adipat (both of San Francisco).
