Ropes & Gray is one of the top law firms for innovative life sciences and health care clients, writes The American Lawyer. The firm’s global practice is profiled in a recent article “How the Life Sciences Boom Is Fueling Law Firm Business.” Ropes & Gray’s platform provides comprehensive business and legal guidance to clients across life sciences and health care. This includes transactions, regulatory, compliance, funding, litigation and enforcement.

IP transactions partner Megan Baca (Silicon Valley) and life sciences regulatory & compliance partner Kellie Combs (Washington, D.C.), both co-chairs of the digital health initiative, discuss the breadth of client work the firm handles.

Kellie notes that coronavirus-related work contribute to 33% net revenue growth in the life sciences and health care industry between 2019 and 2020 by attorneys across the firm. Ropes & Gray has advised almost every COVID-19 vaccine manufacturer. In addition to that work, Kellie said that the firm advised companies looking to manufacture personal protective equipment, develop diagnostic tests for COVID-19, host remote clinical trials and launch digital marketing initiatives in compliance with regulations on promotional activity.

Megan explains that in the last 10 years, the firm has seen an upward trend in multi-disciplinary deals that cut across software and technology as well as the highly regulated life sciences and health care space. She notes that the firm’s digital health initiative cuts across data security, risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, licensing and collaboration and litigation and enforcement issues, among others.
