Ropes & Gray Represents Northpond Ventures in OPT Industries Series A Investment

Ropes & Gray advised Northpond Ventures in connection with its lead investment in the $15 million Series A financing of OPT Industries with participation from existing investors Crosslink Capital and the MIT-affiliated E14 Fund. The investment was announced on March 1. 

OPT’s advanced manufacturing technology enables the 3D printing of continuous materials and products at unlimited lengths with micron-level precision. OPT designs and manufacturers a novel range of metamaterials and products for the healthcare, automotive, cosmetics and consumer goods industries. The company’s InstaSwab is the first 3D printed nasal swab approved for COVID-19 testing. 

The Ropes & Gray team was led by IP transactions partner Regina Sam Penti (Boston) and included venture capital and emerging companies partner Brad Flint (Boston) and IP transactions counsel Emily Karlberg (Lieberman) (San Francisco).
