Marking the Backpack Project’s 24th year, the Boston office supported more than 600 children in need at Boston-area shelters. Recently, Ropes & Gray volunteers gathered to help assemble a portion of the backpacks filled with school supplies. The volunteer packing party took place in the Boston office and was well attended by approximately 40 firm team members.

In addition to the packing party, countless other volunteers helped to shop for backpacks and school supplies, make a monetary contribution and directly sponsor a child. Ropes & Gray partnered with Massport, Capital One and Hamel Marcin Dunn Reardon & Shea to supply 40 of the backpacks.

This year’s Boston recipients included the local shelters Charles Street AME Church, Crossroads Family Shelter, Heading Home and Casa Nueva Vida (a division of Heading Home), Metropolitan Housing Boston, Nazareth Residence, Project Hope, Renewal House, Respond, Inc., Sojourner House, St. Ambrose Family Inn, St. Mary’s Women & Children’s Center, Stone House, Transition House, Victory Programs and YWCA/Bigelow Family Shelter.

The Ropes & Gray team was led by Launa Allen and Allison Pekel and included Caroline Ashe, Kyra Bacon, Colby Bailey, Joanne Butterfield, Eva Carroll, Cheryl Constantine, Ryan Conwell, Michelle Daniels, Brigitte Dockrey, Deanna Dumas, Lisa Gilligan, Winfield Grimm, Amine Hannache, Stephanie Hawker, Deborah Hayes, Louis Janos, Brittaney Jean-Pierre, Brittany Kern, Deborah Lane-Sossa, Jessica Mcnabb, Kristin Mcnatt, Christine Miller, John Morrison, Barbara Norton, Matthew O’Brien, Cynthia Oldfield, Troy Parks, Pamela Parsons, Shirley Pemberton, alum Caitlin Peters, Timothy Stone, Elizabeth Sullivan, Nancy West, Alicia Yaghoobian, Rosa Yu, as well as members from the facilities and mailroom teams.
