In partnership with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office, The Reproductive Equity Now Foundation, the Women’s Bar Foundation, and the ACLU of Massachusetts, Ropes & Gray has helped launch a free hotline that healthcare providers and patients can call for access to legal advice and information on abortion services. Thirty five of the firm’s Boston-based attorneys have been trained to respond to inquiries and referrals received through the hotline.
The hotline was started in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2022 ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson, which overturned the constitutional right to abortion. This decision opened the door for different states in the U.S. to implement a variety of restrictions on abortion and other reproductive health services, creating a patchwork of laws and policies throughout the country.
