The SEC’s climate disclosure rule, issued in March of 2022, is impacting the way companies are thinking about ESG efforts and climate-related disclosures.
Michael Littenberg, partner and global head of Ropes & Gray’s ESG, CSR and Business and Human Rights practice, told The Wall Street Journal that, “the horse has already left the barn on climate risk disclosure.”
“Even if the attorneys general succeed in any lawsuit, several other jurisdictions, including the European Union and some U.S. states, have adopted or proposed rules that would require companies to look into their supply chain emissions.”
