Ropes & Gray Honored by Managing IP for Representation of SAP America in “Milestone Case”
Ropes & Gray was recently honored at the Managing IP North America Awards 2014 for its representation of SAP America in the “Milestone Case” SAP America v. Versata Development Group. The awards recognize leading national and regional intellectual property firms in the United States and Canada. A dinner was held at the Willard InterContinental in Washington, D.C. on March 25 to honor the winners. The complete list of winners is available here.
SAP prevailed in the very first covered business method (CBM) review trial under the post-grant patent challenge proceedings instituted under the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act of 2011, in which the USPTO’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board declared as invalid all five patent claims lodged against it by Versata. Finnegan served as co-counsel for SAP on the patent review.
