September 23, 2020

On Oct. 14, The Massachusetts Association of Hispanic Attorneys (MAHA) honored Ropes & Gray with the 2020 “Corporate Social Responsibility Award” for the firm’s work on voting rights, including representing Latinx voters. This year’s awards theme was “Honoring our Roots, Mobilizing our Future,” which recognized efforts across the Commonwealth that promote diversity, inclusion, collaboration and social change.

Ropes & Gray successfully litigated an emergency pro bono lawsuit against the Massachusetts Secretary of Commonwealth, who withheld the distribution of mail-in ballot applications in defiance of state law. The resolution will enable registered voters in Massachusetts to exercise their right to vote in the primary and general elections without risking COVID-19 infection. At the MAHA annual awards reception, litigation & enforcement partner Rob Jones and litigation & enforcement associate Patrick Roath (both of Boston) will accept the honor on behalf of Ropes & Gray.
