EQT and Baring Private Equity Asia Merger Wins Private Equity Deal of the Year at IFLR 2023 Asia-Pacific Awards

Baring Private Equity Asia’s $7.3 billion merger with EQT, which a global Ropes & Gray team led by London antitrust partner Ruchit Patel advised BPEA on from a regulatory and antitrust perspective, has won Private Equity Deal of the Year at the IFLR 2023 Asia-Pacific Awards.

The deal transforms the region’s private equity landscape, as well as being a global landmark, and was unprecedented in its scope, ambition, and structure.

The IFLR 2023 Asia Pacific Awards, which draw on written submissions and wide-ranging interviews with clients and counsel, showcase the most legally innovative cross-border transactions from across Asia Pacific over the past 12 months.

The global team also included Deidre Johnson, James Parkinson, and Anna Pugh (all of London), and Oliver Nip, Lan Jiangzhou and Sharon Shi (all of Hong Kong).
