James joined Ropes & Gray from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served as review editor for the Virginia Law & Business Review, in addition to serving as the chief of operations and then chief research officer for Rivanna Investments, a student-run equities fund.
Prior to law school, James ran a small business for five years and then worked as a small business consultant.
