Belen Best joined the health care group at Ropes & Gray in 2024. She holds a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, where she was a Darrow Scholar. During her time in law school, Belen served as an executive editor for the Michigan Technology Law Review and as co-development chair for the Women Law Students Association. Her hands-on experience includes working as an advanced student clinician in the Pediatric Advocacy Clinic, a medical-legal partnership, where she handled casework related to social determinants of health, including family law, public benefits, and special education matters.
In addition to her clinical work, Belen was a graduate student instructor for the undergraduate course “Humanizing Science” and interned at the Department of Justice in the Vaccine Litigation Section. She also collaborated with Professor Nicholson Price as a research assistant, focusing on topics in artificial intelligence and health care.
