Ashley has significant international experience representing clients across the globe in a wide range of bankruptcy and restructuring matters, including complex cross-border out-of-court restructurings and in-court chapter 11 processes, involving the U.S., Europe, Asia-Pacific, and other jurisdictions. Her experience also spans across a broad range of industry sectors, from aerospace, cruise operations, shipyard operations, leisure, entertainment and hospitality to oil and gas, real estate and consumer goods.
Her understanding of London market trends attributable to her British background, in addition to her experience practicing in the Hong Kong and New York office of a global law firm prior to joining Ropes & Gray, gives her an edge in providing dynamic and innovative solutions to clients globally.
Experience
- Represented Hearthside Foods and its affiliated debtors in their prearranged chapter 11 cases involving approximately $3.0 billion of funded debt. A world class food product manufacturer, Hearthside’s operations include 28 manufacturing facilities across the United States and Canada, and approximately 12,000 employees.
- Represented an ad hoc group comprised of more than 30 bank lenders and credit support providers across Europe and Asia of Genting Hong Kong Limited, a multinational company that operated cruise and resort businesses in connection with its $3.5 billion highly complex cross-border debt restructuring and $1 billion recapitalisation. The restructuring involved funding from Wirtschaftsstabilisierungsfonds (WSF), the economic stabilization funds set up by the German government during the pandemic.*
- Represented Maybank (Malayan Banking Berhad) as creditor of China Fishery Group (and certain of its thirty-seven (37) affiliates), a global investment holding company that sources, harvests, onboard processes, and delivers fish worldwide, in connection with, among other things, their Chapter 11 cases and cross-border restructuring of its approximately $2 billion in debt.*
- Represented a fifteen-major international banking creditors group of Sapura Energy Group, a Malaysian oil and gas services provider with global operations in over 20 countries across the United States, Europe and Asia, in connection with its cross-border, comprehensive financial and operational restructuring to address its multi-currency financing of approximately RM10.8 billion and outstanding payments to trade creditors amounting to approximately RM1.5 billion.*
- Represented a Japanese space technology service provider as creditor of Virgin Orbit Holdings, a satellite launch provider operated by a British multinational venture capital conglomerate, in their Chapter 11 cases in connection with their Section 363 sale process with a total debt amount of approximately $153 million.*
- Represented a U.S. private real estate investment and developer as the creditor of a residential leasing corporation in their Chapter 11 case in connection with, among other things, their Section 363 sale process.*
- Advised leading corporate trustees in connection with, among other things, Chapter 11 cases of various debtors.*
- Advised leading international financial institutions as creditors of major Chinese property developers in connection with defaults, securities and enforcement options in respect of syndicated and bilateral facilities.*
