Dan Coyne is co-head of Ropes & Gray’s global finance practice, supporting clients with innovative financing strategies across the capital structure. He advises private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies, as well as public companies, on a broad range of financing transactions. Known for navigating sophisticated capital structures and delivering practical, commercial solutions, Dan regularly leads acquisition financings, refinancings, and recapitalizations across various industries. His practice covers the full spectrum of finance solutions, including syndicated credit facilities, asset-based lending facilities, second lien financings, preferred equity issuances, high-yield bond offerings, and liability management transactions.
Experience
- Advised DIRECTV in its offering of $1.4 billion aggregate principal amount of 9.25% senior secured notes and its concurrent tender offer for $1.4 billion of its outstanding 5.875% senior secured notes; and the repricing of its approximately $1.12 billion term loan.
- Advised Bain Capital in connection with the financing for its acquisition of Service Logic, a provider of commercial HVAC and mechanical services, in partnership with Mubadala Investment Company.
- Advised TPG in connection with the financing for its acquisition of a majority stake in Pike Corporation, a provider of turnkey infrastructure engineering and construction solutions for the electrical grid.
- Advised American Industrial Partners in connection with the financing for its acquisition of the Global Cellulose Fibers (GCF) business of International Paper.
- Advised Alera, an insurance brokerage platform and portfolio company of Genstar Capital, in the refinancing of its term loans.
- Advised TPG in connection with the financing for the acquisition of Classic Collision, a provider of auto body repair services.
- Advised Enverus, a Hellman & Friedman and Genstar Capital portfolio company, in connection with a $2.3 billion refinancing of its existing credit facilities.
- Advised Creative Artists Agency, a TPG Capital portfolio company, in connection with its $1.75 billion credit agreement refinancing, its sale to Artemis Groupe, and in subsequent financing transactions.
- Advised NFP Corp., a Madison Dearborn Partners portfolio company, in connection with its sale to Aon for $13.4 billion, a minority investment by HPS Investment Partners and in numerous financing and recapitalization transactions.
- Advised Integrity Marketing Group, a Harvest Partners portfolio company, in connection with the refinancing of its existing credit facilities.
- Advised VetCor, a Harvest Partners portfolio company, in connection with obtaining $4.2 billion of senior secured credit facilities and holdco notes to finance the acquisition of People, Pets and Vets and to refinance existing debt.
- Advised Galway Holdings, a Harvest Partners portfolio company, in connection with obtaining $3.4 billion of secured credit facilities to refinance its existing debt and to finance the acquisition of MAI Capital Management.
- Advised IQVIA in connection with obtaining $3.2 billion of debt financing for the formation of IQVIA through the merger of IMS Health and Quintiles Transnational, and subsequent financings.
