Areas of Practice

Emma Coreno is an associate practicing in the firm’s health care practice group. She provides regulatory, enforcement, compliance, and transactional advice to a range of health care clients, including hospitals, health systems, health plans, pharmaceutical and medical device companies, and other health care providers and organizations.

Emma maintains an active pro bono practice, representing clients in civil rights and immigration law matters.

During law school, Emma represented indigent defendants in Middlesex County with the Committee for Public Counsel. Emma also represented indigent clients in domestic violence disputes with the Domestic Violence Clinic. She also interned in the Human Trafficking Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. Emma also served as an articles editor for the Northeastern University Law Review and worked as a teaching assistant for multiple professors.

Experience

  • Advises clients on complex regulatory compliance issues, including those related to the Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, the Stark Law, Medicare and Medicaid participation and reimbursement requirements, HIPAA and the corporate practice of medicine.
  • Defends various health care companies subject to investigations conducted by state and federal regulatory authorities and to False Claims Act litigation.
  • Counsels health care entities and investors on a range of transactions, including strategic acquisitions, joint ventures, mergers and affiliations, with a focus on health care regulatory structuring considerations and regulatory diligence.
  • Assists with preparation and submission of extensive regulatory and licensure change of ownership filings in connection with complex transactions.
  • Counsels clients on compliance risk assessments, programs, and policies.
  • Advises academic medical centers and higher education institutions regarding allegations of research misconduct and other issues relating to the integrity of scientific data.
  • Advises pharmaceutical companies regarding federal drug price reporting requirements under the Medicaid Drug Rebate Program, 340B Drug Pricing Program, Inflation Reduction Act, and the VA/Federal Supply Schedule, including through interpretation of applicable laws and guidance and development of policies and procedures.
  • Advises covered entities, contract pharmacies, and manufacturers in connection with 340B Drug Pricing Program requirements.
