Charlie is an associate in the business restructuring group of Ropes & Gray's London office.
Charlie advises clients including financial institutions, corporate debtors, loan agents and insolvency practitioners, on a wide variety of matters across the stressed and distressed spectrum. He has particular experience of complex restructuring mandates (both cross-border and domestic), English insolvency proceedings (both transactional and contentious), and special situations.
Experience
- Advised the Swissport Group, a Swiss-headquartered airline services business, on its €1.9 billion financial restructuring, which was facilitated by an English scheme of arrangement and included a debt-for-equity swap implemented through an English pre-packaged administration*
- Advised the LYCRA Group, an international textile-manufacturer, on an enforcement process by its lenders under a junior mezzanine facility*
- Advised the Vue Group, an English-headquartered cinema chain, on its £1 billion debt-for-equity swap, affected through the consensual enforcement of a Jersey share pledge*
- Advised the administrators of an AIM-listed business in the going concern sales of three of the subsidiaries’ businesses on a pre-pack basis*
- Advised the board of an electricity supplier on the solvent purchase of certain energy assets immediately prior to the seller’s administration and, subsequently, advising the administrators appointed to the electricity supplier on negotiations with OFGEM and the Supplier of Last Resort Process*
