Kathryn Daniels is Director of Ethics, Compliance, and Insights at Ropes & Gray’s Insights Lab, where she leverages over 25 years of global experience to help organizations align governance, culture, and risk management. A recognized leader in compliance and ethics, Kathryn develops and implements strategies that integrate legal, behavioral, and data-driven approaches. At Insights Lab, she leads the firm’s ethics and compliance strategy, advising clients on comprehensive program design and execution—including policy development, training, investigations, monitoring, governance models, risk assessment, and third-party due diligence.
Before joining Ropes & Gray, Kathryn was Head of Compliance for a global asset manager with over CAD $700 billion in assets under management, where she established the global compliance function. Her remit spanned anti‑bribery/anti‑corruption, privacy, conflicts, whistleblower management, information management, and AI governance. As the accountable executive for Responsible AI, she shaped enterprise approaches to emerging technology and data governance. She has built and led compliance programs, advised boards and senior executives, and partnered with investors and technology leaders to advance enterprise-wide governance, promote ethical practices, ensure regulatory compliance, and implement responsible AI initiatives. Her background spans public markets, private equity, real assets, credit strategies, regulatory enforcement, and crisis management.
Earlier, Kathryn held senior roles at the Ontario Securities Commission, Canada’s leading securities and public markets regulator, where she directed enforcement, corporate finance, and litigation teams, and coordinated cross‑border investigations with the SEC, CFTC, and FCA. She served on the OSC Securities Advisory Committee (2020-2023) and the NASAA Board of Directors (2014–2016).
Kathryn has been named Female Trailblazer of the Year at the Canadian Law Awards (2025), shortlisted for Compliance Innovator of the Year at the Lexology Global Counsel Awards (2023), and awarded NASAA’s Outstanding Service Award (2016).
