Steve Fikhman joined the Ropes & Gray litigation and enforcement practice group in 2024.
Before joining the firm, Steve served for six years as a lawyer in the International Law Department of Israel’s MAG Corps. During this time, he provided legal counsel to high-ranking security officials on international law, emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, arms control, and the law of the sea. He represented Israel in bilateral and multilateral negotiations, including at the United Nations. Additionally, Steve advised on cases before the Israeli Maritime Court and developed legal positions for various national security cases before the Israeli Supreme Court.
Steve holds an LLM in International Legal Studies from NYU School of Law, as well as an LLM, summa cum laude, in Civil-Commercial Law and an LLB, magna cum laude, from Tel Aviv University School of Law. At NYU Law, he served as a teaching assistant to Professor Joseph Weiler, as well as a Public Interest Chair and board member of the Jewish Law Student Association (JLSA). At Tel Aviv University, Steve served on the editorial board of the Tel Aviv University Law Review and was a member of the Clinic for the Rights of Holocaust Survivors and the Elderly. He also served as a research assistant to Professors Avihay Dorfman and Itzhak Benbaji on matters of public and private international law.
