Phoebe Glenister-So joined the London office of Ropes & Gray in 2019 in the private equity transactions group. Prior to joining Ropes & Gray, she was a senior associate in the corporate department of another leading international law firm.

Phoebe has a broad range of corporate experience, including advising clients on domestic and cross-border public and private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, restructurings, and co-investments and providing general commercial and corporate law advice. Clients include private equity investors, their portfolio companies, management teams and investment arms of large corporates and multinationals.

In 2021, Phoebe was seconded to KKR working within the EMEA legal team. Prior to joining the firm, Phoebe has been on secondments to BlackRock, Schroders Investment Management and British Land PLC.

Phoebe is a dual qualified lawyer in England and Wales and New York.

  • Acting for Liberty Global on its acquisition of the stake held by Warner Bros. Discovery in the electric car racing series Formula E, resulting in Liberty Global obtaining a controlling interest in the world’s fastest growing motorsport
  • Advising Integrated Media Company (IMC), a TPG platform dedicated to the new media ecosystem, on the acquisition of a majority stake in Goal from the DAZN Group and the establishment of Footballco
  • Advising TPG, IMC and its portfolio company Footballco on bolt-on acquisitions including the acquisition of Kooora, a Middle East digital sports publisher
  • Advising TPG Growth on its investment into Musixmatch, a leading global music data platform
  • Advising Baring Private Equity Asia, now EQT Asia on its acquisition of IGT Solutions, formerly InterGlobe Technologies, from an affiliate of Apollo Global Management
  • Acting for Astorg on the acquisition of the Fastmarkets business division of Euromoney Institutional Investor, as part of a £1.61bn take-private of the financial publisher of Euromoney by Astorg and Epiris
  • Acting for a leading global telecommunications group on a range of investments, from digital content producers to sustainable energy projects
  • Advising Humble Group AB, a Swedish food-tech and FMCG-group, on its up to SEK 1.384 billion acquisition of Solent Global Limited, a leading international supplier of healthy foods and personal care products
  • Advising Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation (MUTB) in relation to its capital and business alliances with Aberdeen Asset Management and the £11bn merger between Aberdeen Asset Management and Standard Life to form Standard Life Aberdeen, of which MUTB was the lead shareholder*
  • Acting for Elliott Advisors in relation to the 21st Century Fox and Comcast competing offers for Sky plc, including in front of the Hearings Committee of the Takeover Panel and the Takeover Appeal Board*
  • Advising Japaninvest Group plc on its acquisition by Haitong International BVI Limited Securities Group in the first ever public takeover of a foreign company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange via a UK court-approved scheme of arrangement*
  • Advising a consortium of investors led by Audley Capital Advisors and Orion Mine Finance on the acquisition of the Mantoverde and Mantos Blancos copper mines in Chile from Anglo American plc*
  • Acting for Orion Mine Finance and Fusion Capital on the sale of Lynx Resources, the owner of the SASA zinc, lead and silver mine in the Republic of Macedonia, to Central Asia Metals plc*
  • Acting for Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd on its acquisition of Sport Direct’s international trademark rights to the DUNLOP brand and related sporting goods and licensing businesses (British Legal Awards 2017 “M&A Team of the Year (Medium Sized Deal)” – Highly Commended)*
