Areas of Practice

Alicia Thea Ho joined Ropes & Gray's litigation & enforcement practice group in 2023. Prior to joining the firm, Alicia trained in the Hong Kong and New York offices of another top U.S. law firm, with a particular focus on complex commercial litigation, international arbitration, white collar criminal defense, and government and internal investigations. Alicia also has experience handling regulatory and compliance matters involving digital assets and data privacy issues.

While pursuing her LLB at University College London, Alicia graduated on the Dean’s List with First Class (Honors) and was awarded the Latham & Watkins Prize for Best Performance in Environmental Law and the Blackstone Chambers Prize for Best Performance in Public Law.

Alicia received the Hong Kong Law Society’s Gold Award and Improvement Award in 2023 in recognition of maintaining an active pro bono practice advocating for refugees in respect of permission to work applications and non-refoulement and unlawful detention claims.

Experience

Notable engagements in which Alicia has been involved prior to joining the firm include:

New York

  • Assisted a leading international accounting firm in response to a PCAOB investigation relating to its reporting obligations and integrity of its internal training programs.
  • Assisted a multinational technology conglomerate on antitrust matters in response to an FTC civil investigative demand.   
  • Assisted a global investment bank and financial services company in an SEC investigation on certain broker dealer practices and off-systems communications.

Hong Kong/China

  • Conducted an independent investigation into a Hong Kong-based virtual bank in connection with whistleblower allegations.
  • Assisted a Hong Kong-based hedge fund and its founder/CEO in an SFC investigation regarding alleged market misconduct.
  • Advised a global investment bank on the sufficiency of its due diligence steps in an IPO where it acted as sponsor.
  • Advised the charity foundation of a Chinese multinational technology and entertainment conglomerate on Hong Kong laws applicable to charities, corporate governance and compliance matters, and AML and CTF best practices.
  • Assisted an international gaming company on regulatory and compliance issues.
  • Defended a global investment bank in an LCIA arbitration arising from allegations of financial mis-selling.
  • Advised a Chinese entrepreneur on shareholder disputes across four common law jurisdictions.
