Carlos Hanco practices in Ropes & Gray’s asset management group in Boston. He regularly advises U.S. and non-U.S. private equity and venture capital sponsors on a variety of matters. Carlos has advised sponsors on the formation, offering, governance and ongoing operations of private investment funds, including buyout, venture capital, impact investing and secondary funds. He also counsels sponsors on their ongoing regulatory and compliance matters, and on the structuring of bespoke investment arrangements such as funds of one, separately managed accounts, overage funds and co-investment funds. Sponsor clients also look to Carlos for advice on their internal firm economic and governance arrangements, including seed deals and carry arrangements.

Beyond his work for sponsors, Carlos represents institutional investors such as large financial institutions, private foundations and family offices with respect to their investments in various types of private investment funds. Carlos maintains an active pro bono practice and has advised nonprofit organizations on various corporate matters, as well as asset managers on fundraising private funds with impact investment strategies.
