Abby Kittredge is an associate in Ropes & Gray’s global litigation and enforcement group. She focuses her practice on white collar criminal and civil defense, regulatory enforcement and compliance matters, and complex civil litigation.

Abby maintains an active pro bono practice representing criminal defendants in state and federal court, including through the Criminal Justice Act panel for the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

Before joining the firm, Abby worked as a research and writing attorney through a fellowship with the Federal Public Defender’s Office in Boston. During law school, Abigail served as a note & comment editor for the American University Law Review. She was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society and won first place at the Seigenthaler-Sutherland Cup National First Amendment Moot Court Competition. Abigail was also a Dean’s Fellow for the Legal Research and Writing Program, a member of the Criminal Justice Defense Clinic, and an intern for Magistrate Judge Robin Meriweather of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Experience

  • Represented a health care investment private equity firm and its portfolio company, a multi-state physician practice, in an enforcement action brought against the company by two United States Attorney’s Offices as well as the DOJ, accompanied by a CMS-imposed multi-year Medicare payment suspension.
  • Represented a major financial institution in international arbitration concerning a dispute with the majority owner of a Latin American telecommunications company and related litigation, resulting in multiple favorable awards that have been confirmed by the Southern District of New York and Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
  • Represented the president and fellows of an Ivy League University, along with the dean, in a multimillion-dollar case brought by a professor following sanctions imposed as a result of the findings that the professor engaged in research misconduct.
  • Represented a financial institution in a high-profile, fast-paced class action alleging an unprecedented theory under the federal Trafficking Victims Protection Act.
  • Represented an asset management firm in a first of its kind insider trading case, which could force much of the industry to adopt a far more expensive and time-consuming approach to managing collateralized loan obligation (“CLO”) investments.
  • Advised a U.S.-based leading private investment firm in connection with internal and government FCPA investigations facing its portfolio companies.
  • Represented an individual in a favorable settlement regarding a dispute about personal and real property.
  • Advised a private equity firm that invests in sustainable real assets regarding federal fraud charges against the CEO of one of its portfolio companies.
