Cory Morrison joined the corporate private equity group as an associate in 2025. Cory previously worked in-house as legal counsel in the asset management team at a FTSE 100 pension and savings company in London, supporting M&A and private market projects. He has broad experience with leading asset managers covering investment management, private credit and insurance transactions. Cory qualified in New Zealand in 2020 and also worked as an associate for another large international law firm focusing predominately on cross-border private M&A and joint ventures in primary industries, renewables, healthcare and consumer goods sectors.
Cory holds an Investment Management Certificate from CFA UK and is a former Guam International Rugby Representative.

- Successfully represented Phoenix Group and its joint venture with Schroders Capital to incorporate the UK’s first alternative investment fund manager, Future Growth Capital, and launch two new long-term asset funds (LTAFs) aiming to deploy £2.5b of pension capital in UK private markets by 2030*
- Supported Phoenix Group’s £250m co-investment, via Schroders Capital, with British Business Bank’s Long-term Investment for Technology and Science (LIFTS) initiative, institutional investment in UK venture capital science and technology companies*
- Managed private equity mandates for Phoenix Group in-house with leading Private Equity houses (Partners Group, Stonepeak and Infrared Partners)*
- Represented Phoenix Group in its purchase of a £100m private placement note from Soho Estates, a prominent real estate company in central London*
- Represented Phoenix Group in its purchase of a private placement note from Natixis to lend €100m to Frey, a publicly traded French REIT*
- Advised Ingka Investments and IKEA on several forestry and commercial property acquisitions in New Zealand*
- Advised Harvard University’s endowment fund on the sale of Dairy Farms Partnership for NZ$88m to NZRLC*
