Dan Murphy is an associate in the employment, executive compensation and benefits practice, supporting clients in a wide range of labor and employment matters. His practice includes pre-litigation counseling and risk assessment, deal support, litigation and dispute resolution. Dan regularly represents employers in complex employment litigation matters, including restrictive covenant and trade secret litigation, discrimination matters, whistleblower actions and internal investigations, and actions brought by highly compensated executives. Dan also supports clients with labor and employment diligence in large scale transactions.
As co-chair of Ropes & Gray’s Dorchester House Housing Court Initiative, Dan maintains a robust pro bono practice. He has successfully represented clients in summary process trials and related proceedings, secured favorable outcomes in divorce and child custody cases, and assisted asylum-seekers with gaining lawful status.
During law school, Dan served as co-director of the Georgetown Law Barristers Council’s Appellate Advocacy Division. Dan also served as student counsel in Georgetown’s Appellate Litigation Clinic, where he co-led a successful appeal before the Eleventh Circuit on behalf of an indigent client. In the summer of 2019, Dan interned in the criminal and appellate divisions of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.
