Patrick Maher is an associate in Ropes & Gray’s employment, executive compensation and employee benefits practice group. Patrick’s practice focuses on representing clients in all aspects of labor and employment matters in connection with domestic and cross-border corporate transactions.
Patrick also advises clients on a wide range of labor and employment issues, including enforceability of restrictive covenants, wage and hour compliance, union matters, employment-related policies, discrimination and harassment matters, terminations and workforce reductions, employment agreements and separation agreements. Patrick has also represented clients before administrative agencies and in all phases of litigation in state and federal court.
Prior to joining Ropes & Gray, Patrick was an associate at another leading international law firm.
During law school, Patrick interned at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and in the legal department at Mercedes-Benz USA. He also served as the executive symposium editor of the Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal.

- Represented Becton, Dickinson and Company in its acquisition of Edwards Lifesciences' Critical Care product group, a leader in advanced hemodynamic monitoring solutions, for $4.2 billion.
- Represented GHO Capital Partners and Ampersand Capital Partners in the acquisition of Avid Bioservices for $1.1 billion.
- Represented New Mountain Capital in its growth investment in Access Healthcare, a technology-enabled platform for revenue cycle management intended for the healthcare industry.
- Represented Advent International in its strategic investment in Prometheus Group, a global provider of comprehensive and intuitive enterprise asset management software solutions.
- Advised EQT Private Equity on its agreement to acquire Avetta, a global leader in supply chain risk management software, from Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe.
- Represented Brown University Health, a leading academic healthcare system based in Providence, Rhode Island, in its purchase of Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River and Morton Hospital in Taunton, Massachusetts, for $175 million in the Steward Health Care System bankruptcy.
- Represented MACOM Technology Solutions Holdings, Inc., a supplier of semiconductor products, in the completion of its acquisition of the radio frequency business of Wolfspeed, Inc.
- Advised AEA Investors and its portfolio company, Process Sensing Technologies (PST), in PST’s acquisition of Fluid Components International.
- Represented Bain Capital Life Sciences as it led an over $200 million strategic growth transaction centered on Serán Bioscience, a CDMO providing development, analytical and manufacturing services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
- Advised BV Investment Partners in a growth-oriented investment in Hardenbergh Group, a nationwide provider of non-clinical professional staffing, consulting, physician peer review and outsourced solutions to healthcare organizations.
- Represented Altamont Capital in its acquisition of Big Top Manufacturing, a manufacturer of industrial fabric buildings and shelters.
- Represented Kanders & Company, Inc. in its definitive agreement to acquire and combine certain antenna and test equipment businesses from L3Harris Technologies for $200 million.
- Represented Chartis, a portfolio company of Audax Group, in its acquisition of HealthScape Advisors, a leading healthcare payer consulting firm.
- Represented Aquiline Capital Partners in its investment in Health Prime International, a provider of revenue cycle management solutions for physician practices.
- Advised Nintex, a TPG Capital portfolio company, in its definitive agreement to acquire Skuid, a low-code cloud platform that allows for the rapid design and development of business applications.
- Represented Proterial, Ltd., a portfolio company of Bain Capital, in the sale of its subsidiary, Waupaca Foundry, Inc., the world's largest iron manufacturer, to Monomoy Capital Partners.
