Areas of Practice

Erasmo A. Perez is an associate based in New York and a member of the firm’s tax, employment and benefits department. Mr. Perez joined Ropes & Gray in 2025 from another global law firm, and he received a J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School in 2019. 

Erasmo’s practice focuses on working with clients, mainly private equity firms, on the structuring and federal income tax consequences of fund formations, secondaries transactions, continuation vehicles and other liquidity solutions, investments, mergers and acquisitions and divestitures.

Experience

  • Supported multiple private equity firms in the structuring, organization and raising of new private funds, including in the buy-out, credit, venture capital and healthcare and financial services sectors.*
  • Advised various private equity clients both as sponsors and as lead investors or buyers in continuation vehicles and secondaries transactions, respectively, including Lightspeed Venture Capital’s $1 billion continuation fund.*
  • Counseled corporate and private fund clients with regards to the federal income tax consequences in a variety of contexts in domestic and cross-border transactions.*
  • Assisted Cohen Private Ventures in its sale of the Syracuse Mets and Brooklyn Cyclones to Diamond Baseball Holdings, an organization that owns and operates select minor league clubs affiliated with Major League Baseball.*
  • Represented Clayton, Dubilier & Rice in its investment in Vialto Partners as part of a recapitalization transaction that delivered a $225 million equity capital investment in Vialto and an approximately $550 million reduction in Vialto’s outstanding debt.*
