Georgia Papathanasiou is an associate in the business restructuring group of Ropes and Gray’s London office.
Georgia has experience acting for major financial institutions, private equity sponsors, corporate advisory firms and large multinational companies in contentious and non-contentious matters related to complex refinancing, administration and liquidation, schemes of arrangement, restructuring plans and cross-border transactions.
Experience
Her representative transactions include advising:
- Exactech, Inc. and its affiliated debtors in their pending chapter 11 cases involving the restructuring of more than $350 million of prepetition debt, as well as additional prepetition liabilities; Exactech’s chapter 11 cases are supported by an $85 million debtor in possession credit facility and a stalking horse bid, which remains subject to higher and better offers, for substantially all of the debtors’ assets
- Ares on the refinancing of TalkTalk Telecom Group*
- Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc on its subordinated debt litigation with various UK subsidiaries, concerning the relative ranking of over $10 billion of subordinated claims in the UK estates*
- IGM Resins and its sponsor on their restructuring implemented using a UK scheme of arrangement*
- a global tax and immigration consultancy group on its $1.5 billion restructuring*
- the senior facilities lenders on the restructuring of an aerospace manufacturer*
- the Chapter 11 plan administrator in the US$1.19 billion restructuring of the China Fishery Group, including in connection with the Part 26A restructuring plan*
- on the scheme of arrangement of Codere SA*
- on the sale of certain parts of the business and assets of British Steel Limited to Jingye Steel (UK)*
