Michelle Chaing Perry joined Ropes & Gray in 2021 and is an associate in the tax practice, advising private equity firms and registered investment companies.
Michelle works on a diverse range of tax issues in mergers, acquisitions, debt finance, and investment funds. In her registered investment company practice, she focuses on mutual fund formation, mergers, and compliance, as well as tax considerations relating to derivative instruments.
During law school, Michelle was a judicial intern for the Honorable Richard G. Stearns at the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. She was also an articles editor on the Boston College Law Review.
Prior to law school, she spent several years in the Asia-Pacific region advising on public policy and regulatory affairs for companies like Uber and Expedia.
Experience
- Represented Tecomet, Inc., together with certain of its affiliates, in the refinancing of its approximately $1 billion capital structure, including through the provision of a new revolving credit facility and privately placed first-lien term loan. Tecomet is a global leader in the design, development, and manufacture of orthopedic, robotic assisted, and minimally invasive surgical products, as well as precision components for the aerospace and defense industry.
