Abbey is an associate in Ropes & Gray’s private equity real estate group. Abbey advises investors on UK and European private equity real estate deals, including joint ventures, real estate M&A, direct and indirect acquisitions, sale and leasebacks and CRE repurchase facilities. Her clients include PE / RE estate funds, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and family offices.

Abbey has experience across many types of real estate assets and businesses including offices, data centres, residential (PRS/BTR and build to sell), student accommodation and logistics assets.

Abbey trained at the firm's London office and gained experience in the private equity, asset management, private equity real estate and data protection and cybersecurity teams.

Experience

  • A variety of Private Equity Funds including Bridgepoint and TPG in connection with the real estate aspects of PE acquisitions and dispositions, including structuring and negotiation of occupancy leases, acquisition and disposition agreements and sale and leasebacks
  • Partners Group on its pan-European joint venture with Italian student housing specialist Camplus International and alternative asset manager DeA Capital Real Estate, to build up a purpose built student accommodation (PBSA) platform in cities across Europe
  • Brookfield, alongside its operator and manager, Copley Point Capital, on a £125 million JV recapitalization of three big-box distribution warehouses from Tritax Big Box REIT
  • GIC in connection with its acquisition of a 40% interest in The Oxford Science Park from Magdalen College, Oxford, and on a strategic joint venture between GIC and Magdalen College aimed at accelerating major development of the science park
  • A variety of real estate debt funds in negotiating and closing CRE repurchase facilities across from major banks to finance commercial real estate loans secured by real estate in the United Kingdom and throughout Europe
