Insia Zaidi is an associate in Ropes & Gray’s litigation and enforcement practice group. Her practice focuses on government investigations and civil litigation, and she has represented clients including universities, hospital systems, media companies, and private equity firms and their portfolio companies. Insia also supports the firm’s pro bono efforts, working with organizations such as the Innocence Project, KinCare, PAIR Project, and Volunteer Lawyers Project.
Insia is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, Loyola Marymount University’s Graduate School of Education, and New York University’s College of Arts and Sciences. As a law student, she worked for the Mississippi State Public Defender’s Office’s capital defense team, provided reentry support with Root & Rebound, mentored incarcerated students at Contra Costa County juvenile hall, provided legal support to foster youth in obtaining educational accommodations, and served as a research assistant at Columbia University’s Center for Public Research and Leadership (CPRL).
Before attending law school, Insia worked as a foreign exchange sales trader at UBS. Prior to that, she supported incarcerated individuals at Rikers Island in pursuing their GEDs, and later taught eighth grade math at a charter school in Compton, California and served on the Disciplinary Review Board as part of Teach for America.

Civil Litigation
- Major Private Equity Firm and Portfolio Companies: Representing a major private equity firm and its portfolio companies in post-closing disputes and securities litigation.
- Exactech, Inc.: Represented Exactech, Inc., and its affiliated debtors in their pending chapter 11 cases involving the restructuring of more than $350 million of prepetition debt, as well as additional prepetition liabilities.
- Olaplex Holdings, Inc.: a hair care company, and sponsor Advent International in the company’s $1.8 billion initial public offering.
- Skillsoft Corp.: Defended directors and officers of Skillsoft Corp. against fiduciary duty claims in an action in the Delaware Court of Chancery arising from the company’s $525 million acquisition of online education technology platform Codecademy in 2022. Secured complete dismissal of the action and denial of the plaintiff’s motion for reargument.
- Shari Redstone and National Amusements, Inc.: Defended Shari Redstone and National Amusements, Inc. against parallel actions in the Delaware Court of Chancery brought by former stockholders of Viacom and former stockholders of CBS challenging the multi-billion dollar merger of Viacom and CBS in 2019, resulting in settlement prior to trial.
- Major Research Hospital: Represented a major research hospital in connection with CVA and ASA tort claims in New York State Court.
- JenaValve Technology: Advised JenaValve Technology, a cardiac device startup, on its proposed acquisition by Edwards Lifesciences.
Pro Bono
- Innocence Project (Charles Collins): Secured full exoneration for Charles Collins who was wrongfully convicted of murder in 1994.
- KinCare (Kinship Caregivers): Representing kinship caregivers in civil rights litigation against the District of Columbia and its child and family services agency.
- PAIR Project (Asylum Applicant): Assisting an asylum applicant from the Democratic Republic of Congo in partnership with the PAIR Project.
- Volunteer Lawyers Project (Housing): Advised a client on termination of a lease agreement based on landlord misconduct and habitability issues.
