Special Situations

Our integrated special situations team includes partners from the United States, London and Asia and is ideally equipped to assist clients across the entirety of the special situations, deal spectrum, from distressed asset acquisitions, purchases of loan portfolios, structures involving novel debt instruments or challenging refinancings through to deals having corporate crisis as their genesis. Our ability to deliver an integrated service across practice areas and geographies is critical to the needs of investors with the broad investment mandates that characterize special situations deals.

We deploy transactional teams that draw on the resources of our finance, private equity, mergers & acquisitions, bankruptcy, hedge funds, investment management, regulatory and tax practices to ensure that we field the right legal team whatever the nature of the special situations deal. Our emphasis on each occasion is to put together the best and most appropriate senior resources the firm can offer. In total more than 20 partners and 50 associates regularly work on special situations deals ensuring that we have experience across all parts of the global special situations landscape.

The scale of our practice has given us market insight, investment knowledge and a range of experience that few firms can match. This we seek to deploy for the benefit of our clients whatever the deal size and irrespective of whether the transaction is cross-border or domestic.

We are very accustomed both to the flexibility in resourcing and the need to structure fee arrangements that align us economically with our clients that are so much a feature of special situations deals and investors.
