Three Ropes & Gray Attorneys Recognized as Law360 Rising Stars
Law360 has named three Ropes & Gray attorneys to its 2017 “Rising Stars” list. Private equity partner Jason Freedman was recognized as a Private Equity Rising Star for a second time in three years; government enforcement partner Aaron Katz was recognized as a Trials Rising Star; and business & securities litigation counsel Amy Roy was recognized as a Securities Rising Star.
- In the last two years, Jason Freedman has closed over $10 billion in deals with some of the nation’s largest investment firms, including Altamont Capital, Bain Capital, Genstar Capital, HIG Capital, TPG and their portfolio companies. Based in San Francisco, Jay has established a reputation in the Bay Area, and beyond, as a “go-to” attorney for the most complex private equity transactions.
- Over five years alone, Aaron Katz has racked up three significant trial victories, including in United States v. Stryker Biotech et al. and United States v. Kurt Mix. Most recently in United States v. DeNunzio, a Ropes & Gray team including Aaron defended a prominent Boston real estate developer caught in the cross-hairs of the first federal criminal prosecution involving Massachusetts’ new casino gaming law. In April 2016, the jury returned—after less than six hours of deliberations—across the board acquittals for the Harvard-educated Dustin DeNunzio and his two co-defendants, marking a complete and high-profile vindication.
- Amy Roy is among the top attorneys in the country handling high-profile investment management litigation, already securing two critical litigation wins for Ropes & Gray’s asset management clients in 2017. Amy has built upon a winning record garnered over a decade during which she’s represented biggest names, including PIMCO, State Street, Sequoia Fund, Third Avenue Funds, State Farm, TCW/Metropolitan West, Harris Associates, T. Rowe Price, and Ameriprise.
