Ropes & Gray and Boston College Law School co-hosted a three-day, virtual summit, from October 13-15, on complex and strategic intellectual property and technology law issues facing U.S. companies operating internationally.
Now in its fourth year, the International IP Summit has become a leading and highly anticipated forum for practitioners, business leaders, academics, and government officials to explore and share insights on the global IP environment and related issues facing multinational companies. The Summit has earned a reputation for one-of-a-kind, substantive panel discussions and opportunities for meaningful and actionable dialogue and positions Ropes & Gray and Boston College Law School as thought leaders in the global IP and legal community. The Summit was conceived and co-chaired by Regina Sam Penti, IP transactions partner at Ropes & Gray, and Ed Kelly, retired partner of Ropes & Gray, along with Professor David Olson, Associate Professor and Faculty Director for the Program on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (PIE) at Boston College Law School.
This year’s event drew 200 lawyers and business executives from 100 technology and life sciences companies, academia, and government. The event featured almost 30 speakers, including speakers from China, the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Brazil, and the United States, an impressive lineup that discussed relevant and complex topics such as IP rights and drug development and distribution amidst a public health emergency, IP updates across four global jurisdictions, global privacy and cybersecurity issues and the cross-border exchange of data, leading a legal department through prolonged uncertainty, and the intersection of antitrust and IP law.
