In an NBC News article, health care partner David Peloquin examined the recent reduction in telehealth access as pandemic emergency health orders have lapsed.

Doctors, nurses and other medical professionals have historically been licensed at the state level, not by the federal government, and state medical boards have often tried to block out-of-state physicians from seeing patients in their jurisdictions.

David notes that the cross-state practice of medicine wasn’t a major issue before the widespread adoption of the internet made virtual visits possible. He said that demand picked up a decade ago as patients in remote areas sought care from specialist physicians and then the pandemic accelerated the demand.
