Matthew Judd

Matthew Judd is co-head of the firm’s private investment funds group and has 20 years' experience in UK and European funds formation. Matthew joined the firm in February 2012, having previously been head of the global investment funds practice of a leading US firm, and a partner in the private funds group of a Magic Circle firm.

Matthew advises in relation to the structuring and establishment of private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and credit funds, private equity secondaries and carried interest and co-investment arrangements.

Experience

  • Acting for Nordic Capital on the formation of Nordic Capital VIII (3.5 billion) and Nordic Capital VII (4.3 billion) and numerous co-investment arrangements
  • Acting for Crescent Capital Partners on the establishment of Crescent Capital Partners V Fund (AUD 675 million) – an APAC focused private equity fund with a global investor base
  • Acting for Proventus on the formation of Proventus Capital Partners III, a SEK12 billion specialty lending fund
  • Acting for one of the world's leading investment managers on the establishment of its private equity and infrastructure fund of funds, managed accounts and fund investments
  • Acting for Natixis on the establishment of a structured credit opportunities fund
  • Acting for Alcentra on its Structured Credit Opportunities Funds platform
  • Acting for Goldman Sachs as arranger of, and investor into, the Khan Negri fund, a private equity club fund focused on Russia and CIS
  • Acting for Genesis Capital on its second private equity fund, focused on CEE
  • Acting for VTB Private Equity on a nanotech focused fund targeting US$150 million
  • Acting for Bluefield LLP on the establishment of Bluefield LLP, a renewable energy fund manager, the spin out of the team from Foresight Group, and its carried interest and co-investment arrangements
  • Acting for Société Générale on its private equity fund formation and the 400 million sale of its private equity portfolio to Goldman Sachs
  • Acting for Alpinvest on its investments into the RBS Special Opportunity Fund and Nazca III, a Spanish private equity fund
