Akhil Sethi is the chief operating officer of Ropes & Gray. In this role he works closely with the partnership to set the firm’s strategy, and helps to execute it through his leadership of the business support team. Akhil oversees all of the firm’s operations globally, including attorney talent and human resources, client and practice development, finance, information services, knowledge management, marketing communications, strategy, and real estate and facilities, among others.
Since joining Ropes & Gray in 2016, Akhil has served as the firm’s chief commercial and chief financial officer.
Previously, Akhil was a senior partner at Mercer, the global human resources consulting firm and subsidiary of the Marsh & McLennan Companies. He held a number of leadership roles during his tenure there, including global chief operating officer of the multinational client group, and head of Mercer’s retirement business in emerging markets and Japan. Akhil also held executive roles with Mercer in the areas of operations, strategy and finance.
Akhil has lived and worked around the world, including in India, Kuwait, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States. In his free time, he enjoys golf, tennis and music.
