In the article, the authors examine the impact of the recent collapse of a garment manufacturing complex in Bangladesh, discussing the corporate social responsibility challenges facing U.S. companies operating through third-party suppliers in foreign countries. To prevent abusive labor practices and ensure ethical and socially responsible standards, the authors propose best practices that companies can use both internally and in their dealings with third parties.
