Preparing for 2025 Modern Slavery Reporting – Recent Guidance and Other Compliance Resources

Many U.S.-based multinationals are now preparing their annual modern slavery statements under the acts adopted by Australia, California, Canada and/or the United Kingdom. In addition to all the usual statement updates that need to be considered stemming from (among other things) evolving programmatic initiatives, changes to supply chains and new risks, this year companies also need to take into account new guidance. 

Most recently, in March, updated UK Modern Slavery Act guidance was published, the most significant refresh since guidance was first issued almost ten years ago. In addition, in late 2024, Canada updated its guidance under the Canadian Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act.
